Stone/Summers/Goncharov are all ready for NHL minutes on defense. Rundblad and Gormley have a shot, but they will likely keep them in the AHL to develop more. On offense Miele could make the jump and is certainly skilled enough, but he's a midget. |

Kostitsyn is KHL bound...unless he's willing to accept less money, and I really doubt he is.
It's a shame really...that guy has the talent to be a regular 30+ goal scorer in this league. |

30 goals scorer who never score 30 goals. Almost sounds like 60 goals scorer who never score 40... |

Andrei Kostitsyn is what he is.... people in Montreal kept saying he "could score 40 goals if he tried every night" but the fact is, he's not that kind of guy.
In the end, in Kostitsyn you get 6 feet+ 200+ pounds that scores more than 20 goals almost every year.
You'll want to bash him in the head and he'll make mistakes but that's what you get with this guy. |

Pretty much. Worth a look for a viable 2nd/3rd line guy. |

why not semin? - deadpoulet
Will likely want too much money and only fills a need if Doan chooses to leave. |

not a chance. he's too stupid. he's all instinct and 7 times out of 10 his instinct leads him to make a dumb play. he doesn't think the game through at all. his talent is such that when he does instinctively do the right thing, your jaw drops like French's at an all-male nude beach. i think he's just a filler guy, not someone who will make much of a difference one way or the other. plus his condistioning has always been suspect. he always looks like he's gassed. |

You could use the scoring and if you need to reach the cap floor, why not throw the money at him? Maybe try to get him for 2 or 3 years. |

Can't really see him as a good fit. I mean Atits at least hits once every 7 games. Semin hasn't thrown a check since 2006. Doesn't jive with the team philosophy. |

Agree!
Don't expect anything from him. If you do that, you will never be disapointed and when ever he scores, and he will occasionaly, it's gonna be a bonus.
So that means, AK is a bottom six forward only.
WARNING
Do not make the mistake that he could be more then a bottom six because in a random game during the season, he decides to play and comes out with a 5+ points match. He will do that from time to time but the gaps are way too long to move him up.
I can honestly say as a Habs fan, the AK enigma in Montreal was well overdue and it was time for him to get out. We don't miss him! |

Why would you want a guy like Kostitsyn on the Yotes? From what I've seen Phoenix has a very strong "score by committee" attitude and there's not really a bonafide star that's well known for scoring. Point is, I see a very hardworking attitude on the ice and led by Doan in the dressing room, and it's already been proven that Kostitsyn's not the most team-oriented player...I'd stay away from this guy if I'm Phoenix. |

As enigmatic as he is, he would give the team another 15-20 goal scorer and make for a solid top-9 threat with a very good 4th line. As it stands they just don't have the scoring to keep up with the rest of the West even if the D and G give all-star years again. |

This.
If AK46 can be had for cheap, he's worth it.
You can consider him the russian Penner with better goal scoring abilities but that doesn't really do anything worthwhile in the playoffs. |

Yeah, I see your point. The Coyotes need all the scoring they can get with Whitney leaving ship. I don't see Doan leaving, though it's possible. If you guys can get an elite scorer, I think you'll be set. You're already rock solid in goal and pretty set on defense. |

Ray Whitney will be the reason why Phoenix doesn't make the playoffs next year and Dallas does.
Edmonton - Young stars a year older, Schultz and Yakupov
Minnesota - Parise,Suter and Mitchell
Colorado - Good young core thats maturing but are still a couple years away
Dallas - Whitney,Jagr and Derek Roy should improve the depth chart. Even if its only temporarily
Calgary - Old team but have improved with the additions of Hudler,Cervenka and Wideman
San Jose- Still a wicked team who's window is closing. But, can still be justified as contenders in the west. Especially if they acquire Nash without giving up Couture
The only teams below you that haven't improved are Anaheim and Columbus. And it looks like Nashville is ready to take a dive in the standings. I'll say the Yotes are lucky to come 12th place |
